There are four divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB):

The Immigration Division conducts admissibility hearings and detention reviews.

The Immigration Appeal Division hears appeals related to sponsorships, removal orders, residency obligations or appeals made by the Minister.

The Refugee Protection Division decides claims for refugee protection as well as cases involving loss of refugee status by way of cessation or vacation.

The Refugee Appeals Division considers appeals of decisions from the Refugee Protection Division.
